I'll be teaching at:
HOT GLASS HOUSTON
"Telling the Story in Glass"
Check back soon, dates TBA
This intensive workshop is a 'crossover’ course, bringing fine art and fine craft together~
You will learn to create two dimensional imagery in glass, using a variety of glass powders. We will explore traditional ideas of drawing using a non-traditional approach; using glass to interpret line, value, contrast, texture, color, and composition.
In addition to learning technical processes, you’ll have freedom to experiment with ways of creating pieces that tell a story, evoke emotion, and express mood.
Previous drawing experience is not necessary, but some fusing experience is helpful. By the time you leave you will have gained a new awareness of the visual language that is possible with kiln formed glass, as well as confidence in your ability to “see” as an artist.
Additional topics to be covered: Kiln formed cane and murrini, collage part sheets for sgraffito drawing, tool making, incorporating color, reactive glass, volume control, firing schedules, and finishing.
